slope is simply rise/run.
or
(vertical shift)/(horizontal shift)
therefore, the x value went from -6 to 2 which means it vertically shifted by 8.
and the y value went from 1 to 5, which means it horizontally shifted by 4.
the slope is 8/4.

slope = (5 - 1) / (2 - (-6) = 4/(2 + 6) = 4 / 8 reduces to 1/2 <==
