Solve 6^3 – x = 6^2 for x

A. x = –1
B. x = –6
C. x = 9
D. x = 1

you mean 6^(3-x) ??
then the answer is D.
because when 6^(3-x) = 6^2, you can just ignore that 6 because both of them are 6, therofe we only need to focus on the power.
(3-x) = 2
therefore x is 1.
