(-5, 1) and (3, 0)

We must use the distance formula.

D = √(x₂-x₁)² + (y₂-y₁)²

Simply plug everything in :)

D = √(3 - (-5)² + (0 - 1)²

Simplify.

D = √(8)² + (-1)²

Simplify.

D = √64 + 1

D = √65

Our distance is approximately 8.06, OR [tex] \sqrt{65} [/tex]
