Treas and Gubernskaya (2012) found that, if adult children and their parents live apart, their relationships are becoming stronger not weaker.
In modern societies, mostly adults leave their parents home and lives separately and establish their own household. In many nations, physical separation did not necessarily weaken the relationship between the adults and the parents. Family remains the family.
